Why was "Liselotte," the second wife of Philippe d'Orléans, shown holding a piece of fruit
(for example, in Landry's Almanach for 1682)?
... in, for example, Landry's Almanach for 1682. which is the Almanach that shows "Monsieur Charpentier" holding the Menuet de Strasbourg.
When the German princess arrived in France in 1671, she shocked the French court by munching on a pomegranate:
