Choose another year from the "French" cahiers
The compositions for 1671 are contained in cahier 2, but they are interrupted chronologically by cahier 3, which contains the music for the funeral mass of Louis-Joseph de Lorraine, Duke of Guise. Notebook 2 also contains two pieces appropriate for the Franciscan religious vows taken by Mme de Guise's mother on June 14, plus a piece that uses phrases from the liturgy of the Feast of the impression of the stigmata on St. Francis. The Virgin Mary (Marie) remains a focus. It is nonetheless clear that, after mid-July 1671, the grieving Mlle de Guise and Mme de Guise were not thinking about embellishing services in their chapel. Indeed, they had withdrawn to Montmartre and saw no one. (The Sicut spina for Sept. 8 was probably performed by the nuns of Montmartre.)

With the
exception of the funeral music for a large ensemble, the pieces clearly
were written for the same two chambermaids (hd and d) and
instrumentalists who were serving the Guises in 1670.
